We Knew

We knew this could only be a fling
We knew that we weren't going anywhere
We knew we only had until the end of the year
We knew that this was just for fun
We knew our kisses were temporary
We knew it was just pretend
We knew we had to protect our hearts
We knew we had chemistry
We knew there was something there
We knew we had feelings for each other
We knew the goodbye would be hard
I didn't know my heart would ache this much
