The Birds in My Head

I watch those around me with silent minds
But my head is encircled with birds of all kinds
My birds' soundless noise is never ending
Their beautiful colors need no tending
There's nothing I can do for them to go away
When they decide it's time to come out and play
As I need them the least they begin to fly
This distraction is unavoidable, though I try
Of course, some days I embrace my winged friends
And I hate that they're flight must come to an end
Since these birds keep my divergent thinking sane
For isn't every creative mind a bit of a birdbrain?
